World Book Day (4th March 2021) is approaching and this year the day will be centered around poetry, with a particular focus on a poem titled, People Need People by Benjamin Zephaniah. We appreciate that this year will be slightly different but we are determined to ensure we bring the whole school together to celebrate reading.
On the day, we would like to invite all children, those both in school and at home, to dress as a character from one of their favourite poems (they may also choose to dress as a character from their favourite book if they don’t have a poem in mind). We always enjoy listening to children sharing their favourite stories/books etc. and this year will be no different. We would love to hear the children’s favourite poems, they may even learn to recite them off by heart or perform it for their class as part of performance poetry!
The theme People Need People is designed to bring everyone together and reflect upon how important the people in our lives are, a thought we’re sure has crossed everyone’s minds over the past year. On the day, teachers have planned a wide range of very exciting activities for their classes – revolving around the theme and we are very much looking forward to seeing what the children produce.
As always, we look forward to seeing all of the children’s wonderful costumes and where possible encourage you to please email us some photos to your child’s year group email so that their amazing costumes can be shared with the whole year group.
