Headlands School Uniform
It is our school policy that all pupils from Reception to Year 6 wear the agreed uniform. We believe this gives our pupils a sense of pride and belonging to Headlands School
Our school uniform is as follows:
- Royal Blue School Sweatshirt
- Royal Blue Polo Shirt / White Polo Shirt / White Shirt
- Grey Trousers / Skirt / Pinafore / Tailored Shorts (to the knee)*
- Grey Tights or Socks
- Black School Shoes
*We ask that all skirts, trousers, pinafores and shorts are of a grey school uniform style.
Points to note:
- Please ensure that zips and buttons are not too difficult for your child to manage.
- Please consider the suitability of footwear for wearing all day in school and running around on a tarmac playground. Shoes should be of a closed toe design and black in colour. High heeled and/or open toe shoes are dangerous and not appropriate.
- PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS OF CLOTHING WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME

Headlands PE Kit
Our uniform for PE is as follows:
Indoor
- Navy Shorts
- Plain White T-Shirt
- Black Pumps
Outdoor
- Navy track suit bottoms or leggings
- Navy or Petrol Blue Sweatshirt or Zipped Hoodie, or normal school jumper, or school hoodie
- Black or White Trainers

Jewellery
The only permitted jewellery that may be worn is:
• One pair of stud earrings (no other piercings are permitted)
• A sensible wristwatch (not a smartwatch)
All jewellery must be removed during practical lessons, e.g. PE lessons / swimming lessons. If children cannot remove their own earrings, then this should be done at home on the day of PE. Jewellery is the responsibility of the pupil and not the school. Lost or damaged items will not be refunded.
Make Up
Children are not allowed to wear make-up. If a pupil attends school wearing make-up they will be required to remove it. False nails and nail extensions are not permitted; only clear nail varnish may be worn.
Hairstyles
Pupils are requested to have suitable hairstyles with natural coloured hair. Shaved patterns in hair e.g. tramlines, names, logos etc are not permitted. Long hair should be tied up. This is to avoid health and safety risks and ensure that children’s vision is not impeded. Large, excessive hair accessories should not be worn; however, small hair clips or plain headbands are acceptable. Hair extensions are not permitted.
School Bags
Pupils should use an appropriately sized shower proof bag to carry their reading book and reading diary to and from school; book bags are preferable as these are easily stored in classrooms.
Large bags / rucksacks are discouraged for day-to-day lessons due to restricted space in cloakrooms and children’s pegs. School bags featuring inappropriate images, slogans or phrases are not permitted. Key rings, charms and sensory toys should not be attached to bags; these items can be distracting for children during the school day. The school encourages pupils to bring non-valuable bags to school. The school will not be liable for lost or damaged school bags.
Water Bottles
All children should bring a water bottle into school every day: this can be refilled by children whenever necessary during the day. Water bottles must be labelled with the pupil’s name.
