School Council

Hello from our School Council!

We are currently selecting our 2025-2026 School Council.

Please watch this space for further updates and information!

What is School Council?

At Headlands we want all children to understand the values of our country alongside the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010. To support this, we have a school council. The children of school council apply in the first half term of each year and a vote takes place amongst the children to appoint a representative from each class in KS1 and KS2. We use this as a platform to promote and celebrate democracy in school.

School council is led by Miss Gohir and Mrs Smith and the children are involved in a wide range of initiatives including supporting anti-bullying week, meeting to discuss pupil voice and issues arising, as part of the interview process for key staff positions (teaching staff, leaders) etc.

Last year we were delighted that our local MP Kim Leadbeater could come into school to meet with our school council and talk about democracy.
