Important Message from Mrs Cocker
Dear Parents,I am writing to inform you that after much deliberation, and with some sadness, I have made the decision to leave Headlands at the end of the Summer term.
It has been an immense privilege to serve as Headteacher for the past 14 years and I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many wonderful children and families who have been part of the Headlands’ family during this time. There can be no better job than being Headteacher at Headlands School. It is simply the best job in the World! The children ensure that every single day is a complete joy.
I feel especially fortunate to have been supported during this time by a talented and committed team of professionals whom I sincerely thank for their unwavering support and dedication. Teamwork is the key to any successful organisation and the Headlands’ team are always ready for new challenges and are prepared to go the extra mile. I know I will leave the school in their safe hands.
I will of course support Governors and the new Headteacher to ensure a smooth transition is achieved. You will be reassured to know that Governors have already begun the process of recruiting my successor.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone associated with the school for their support, encouragement and friendship. I thank parents for their part in building a trusted partnership between home and school which has strengthened our ability to provide enhanced learning opportunities for children.
I will certainly take with me so many wonderful memories. I wish the school, and all associated with Headlands, continued success for the future.
With best wishes and kindest regards,
Important Message from the Chair of Governors
I would like to introduce myself to you all as the new Chair of Governors. My name is Craig Looker and I was elected Chair in September 2020.
As you have seen from the message above, Mrs Peta Cocker has decided to resign as Headteacher of Headlands with effect from the end of August 2021. I would like to thank Mrs Cocker for her dedication to the school and its children during her fourteen years as headteacher. She has transformed Headlands during that time into a school with good behaviour, a calm atmosphere and solidly good teaching and learning, as shown by the last two Ofsted reports.
The Governors now have responsibility for recruiting a new Headteacher to build on Mrs Cocker’s achievements. We have appointed a Recruitment Panel of five Governors which will be supported and guided by two experienced advisers from the Education Teams at Kirklees Council and the Church Diocese.
Over the next couple of months, the Recruitment Panel will be advertising for the post, shortlisting candidates and conducting interviews. The advertisement for the role will be publicly available for you to see if you wish.
We are committed to recruiting the best possible candidate to build on the school’s achievements, support the welfare of staff and children during these challenging times and ensure that Headlands provides the best possible all round education.
We understand that this period of change can be unsettling. We would like to reassure you that we will work with all the staff at Headlands to ensure stability and consistency for the school both in the short and long-term. As always, our priority is the welfare of our children and the staff at the school.
If you have any questions regarding the recruitment process then you can contact me and the other Governors using the Contact Box on the website: https://www.headlandscofeschool.co.uk/about-us/governors/
