We are writing to you to share information regarding the closure of the Year Four Bubble. We were informed this morning, Friday 2 July 2021, that a member of the Year Four Bubble has received a positive COVID 19 test result. All staff and children in the Year Four Bubble must now self-isolate and will be permitted to return to school once their isolation period has ended. We have already contacted the Kirklees Infection Control team who have confirmed that the isolation period will end at midnight on Sunday 11 July. The staff and pupils will be able to return to school on Monday 12 July. All staff and children in the Year Four Bubble must not leave their house or garden during the isolation period. Siblings of the Year 4 pupils can continue to attend school. You do not need to arrange a test for your own child or any other member of your household unless they begin to display symptoms within the isolation period. During the isolation period, if your child or anyone in your household develops symptoms and tests positive for Coronavirus, please inform school immediately.
Our aim will be to provide learning opportunities and support that reflects our learning in the classroom. We also recognise that a bubble closure could present difficulties for many families. However, it is vital that all children continue with their learning using the tasks that we provide for their personal development. We understand that home learning is not ideal and we appreciate your ongoing support. Next week, your child’s live English lesson will take place at 9:30am each day followed by a live Maths lesson at 11:00am each day. Teachers will use Microsoft Teams to provide a home learning experience through the use of both live and pre-recorded lessons as well as uploaded tasks and quizzes – just like they did during the first half of the Spring Term. In addition to the above, children could continue to read their school library books and practice mathematical skills using sites such as TTRockstars, MyMaths and Spelling Shed. There will be no live teaching sessions or uploaded tasks today. Remote learning will begin from Monday 5 July.
As your child is in KS2, you are entitled to some support regarding IT devices. If your child does not have access to an electronic device such as a laptop, we will be able to provide them with a loan device. We will send a text home to all Year 4 parents (either later today or on Monday) about electronic devices. Please respond promptly to when you receive this text if you require us to organise a loan device for your child. Please note, that all loan devices must be returned to school by pupils at the end of the isolation period.
If you or your child have any questions about the work set or if you are struggling to access the live lessons, the Year Four teachers can be contacted during school hours via the email address listed below;
If your child is usually eligible for FSM, we will complete an automatic referral on your behalf. You will then be contacted by the Kirklees Local Welfare team. We send our best wishes to all families associated with our school in the hope that you stay safe and healthy in the weeks to come.
